An egg-shaped burnished clay vessel handcrafted by Aide Betancourt in the community of Juan Mata Ortiz, Chihuahua, a place renowned for its contemporary ceramic tradition rooted in the ancient Casas Grandes tradition. Titled The Pulse of the Earth, the piece is defined by its organic, gently rounded silhouette and a carefully composed surface featuring black, white, and red applications. The restrained geometry of the decoration follows the curvature of the vessel, creating a visual rhythm that emphasizes its sculptural volume.
Burnished to a smooth, refined surface, the vessel is decorated entirely by hand with mineral pigments using a delicate brush made from a young girl's hair.
