A reclining jaguar modeled entirely by hand by Paulina Jiménez in Amatenango del Valle, Chiapas. The cat stretches low along the ground, front paws forward and tail curled up behind it, its head raised and turned slightly, as if watching.

Its pale body is covered in small hand-painted black spots, with bolder lines tracing the eyes, ears, muzzle and claws. The clay is burnished with river stone and fired in the open air, as the women potters of her community do.
