“Mixtec Desert” is a hand-modeled clay sculpture that captures the untamed and silent essence of the landscape that inspires it, where the earth seems to sculpt itself over time. Its organic forms, punctuated by voids that evoke wind and erosion, interact with the light, creating shifting shadows that bring the piece to life from every angle. The mineral slips display a warm palette of ochres, reds, and smoky hues, the result of firing in a traditional wood-fired kiln, where the fire imprints unique and unrepeatable marks. Polishing with beeswax provides a subtle smoothness and an intimate sheen that invites exploration with both sight and touch. More than a sculpture, it is a poetic fragment of the Mixtec land, a work that conveys strength, memory, and a beauty deeply rooted in nature.
