A large cántaro hand-built by Silvia Martínez Díaz in Santa María Tlahuitoltepec, in Oaxaca's Sierra Mixe. Ten flared mouths rise from the shoulder of its full, rounded body, with a single loop handle arching over the top.

Burnished with river stone and bull horn and fired in the open air, the warm clay keeps the soft shadows and dark marks left by the fire.
