A vase by Florencia Cortés of Los Reyes Metzontla, a Popoloca community in southern Puebla. A flared neck rises from a shoulder studded with small balls of clay in red slip, over a black lower body that rests on small round feet.

Shaped on the hand-turned wheel, decorated with applied clay (pastillaje), burnished and fired at low temperature in a traditional kiln; a reduction firing gives the lower half its black color.
