El Canto de las Sirenas
Taller Manos Que Ven
This exhibition brings together the voice of a family that has made clay its way of understanding the world. In San Antonino Castillo Velasco, José G. A. founded a workshop rooted in tradition and in a creativity that has been with him since he was young. When he lost his sight, his family encouraged him to keep going and let touch take the place of sight. His wife, Teresita M., became indispensable: she watches, corrects, describes and accompanies every piece, the eyes that complete his process. Together they keep giving life to the sirens that are the family's emblem.
Their children grew up with clay and each has found a way to answer that legacy. Esther G. M. continues her father's journey through water, with protective, sensual sirens and freer silhouettes. Sara G. M. looks inward, turning her mother's face into long necks, geometric profiles and abstract masks. José Miguel G. M. works between inheritance and search, opening routes of his own.
For Rombo, this exhibition holds a special meaning. Nearly six years of friendship and collaboration with the family have shaped the gallery's journey, and they were the first artists to present an exclusive exhibition in our new space.
