New York Titans
Studio Rombo's debut exhibition
Five years in the making, New York Titans was Studio Rombo's debut exhibition, held for three nights at Luxuny Atelier in New York City. It brought together fourteen large dry-pastel drawings by Diego Salazar, each imagining one or more iconic New York buildings as living beings, born from a simple question during a walk around the 9/11 Memorial: what if buildings could feel?
Around the drawings, artists from Oaxaca interpreted the series in their own crafts: tapestries, ceramics, carved and painted wood, and a nickel mirror, alongside digital works by artists from New York, Los Angeles and Berlin. Each artist was paid in full and worked in their own style and voice. Hundreds of visitors came over three nights, among them the Consul General of Mexico in New York.
