Alucarda
Born in Oaxaca City on December 2, 2002, she became drawn to art at 13 and works in drawing and painting, mainly in acrylic, India ink, charcoal and graphite.
Her path into art began in high school. While studying visual arts at CEDART Miguel Cabrera in 2017, she built her technique through workshops and courses at the Centro de las Artes de San Agustín, the Centro Fotográfico, independent workshops and drawing sessions with the Misión Diletante project.
Her current work explores drawing in the urban landscape, looking at forms and textures in everyday and sometimes banal things: plants and their shadows, space, emptiness, memes, phrases lettered on buses and trucks.
She builds her practice from personal experience to speak in metaphor. Childhood, solitude, growing up, the ephemeral and death recur in her pieces, which pair a childlike aesthetic with a dark, surreal atmosphere.
