An armadillo carved from copal wood by Enrique Fabian Ortega in San Martín Tilcajete, Oaxaca. The animal's natural geometry — its overlapping plates, compact body, tucked head — makes it a natural subject for alebrije art, and Enrique seizes on that affinity fully, hand-painting each plate as its own distinct field of pattern and color. The result feels both true to the animal and completely transformed by the act of making.

The cost of shipping is included in the price. Sculptures are shipped directly from Oaxaca, Mexico and thus allow for up to two weeks for delivery. All packages are shipped using DHL. A tracking number will be provided as soon as the piece is shipped.
