Dios de las Cucarachas, 2016 — a polychrome ceramic sculpture by Esteban Dalí (b. 1989) of Oaxaca City. The cockroach god is exactly what the title promises and something more: a deity of the marginal, the overlooked, the indestructible. Dalí's treatment is neither ironic nor reverent in any conventional sense — it is simply direct, the figure rendered with the seriousness that any god deserves, however unlikely.
