This ceramic sculpture from the “Guardianas” series (2015) embodies a protective, almost otherworldly presence. Its elongated vertical form is composed of stacked, organic shapes with circular openings that resemble portals or inner chambers. Subtle spikes, carved lines, and textured surfaces create a rhythmic, tactile flow along the piece.
A stylized, watchful face emerges at the top, suggesting a spiritual sentinel or ancestral figure. The natural tones of Atzompa clay and the expressive hand-built construction reflect a blend of pre-Hispanic influence and contemporary artistic language, characteristic of the “Guardianas” series.
