A red clay ceramic jar with five faces — Jarrón de Cinco Caras — made at Taller Manos Que Ven in San Antonino Castillo Velasco, Oaxaca in 2020. At 40 centimeters tall, the jar's five faces look outward in every direction, each one distinct, the vessel becoming a chorus of presences rather than a single figure. The multi-faced ceramic form has deep roots in pre-Hispanic Oaxacan art — faces that watch from vessels are as old as the tradition itself — and the workshop honors that lineage while bringing it into their own warm, characterful figural style.
