A resting fighting cock — gallo de pelea en reposo — handmade in tin by Miguel Ángel Agüero Pacheco of Taller Hoja de Lata in Oaxaca City. The gamecock is a recurring figure in Oaxacan culture, a symbol of pride, rivalry, and the complex pleasures of tradition, and Miguel Ángel captures something of that charged quality in his rendering: the bird at rest but still carrying its tension, painted in urethane and shaped with the precision of a craftsman who has spent over six decades learning what metal wants to become.
